This year’s recipient of the NDSU Alumni Achievement Award is Darryle D. Schoepp. Dr. Schoepp received a B.S. degree in Pharmacy from NDSU in 1978 and a doctoral degree in Pharmacology and Toxicology from West Virginia University in 1982. He is Senior Vice President and Franchise Head for Neuroscience at Merck and Company. Prior to that, Schoepp served as VP of Neuroscience Discovery Research at Eli Lilly and Company. Dr. Schoepp’s research career has focused on glutamate receptor pharmacology, where he has led pioneering efforts to discover and investigate novel agents for psychiatric and neurological disorders. He has published over 200 papers and reviews and is an inventor of 14 US patents in the glutamate area.
